Study of The Sermon of The Mountain

Primary tabs

The book of Matthew has 28 chapters. Some chapters are pretty long.

We are going to start with the Sermon of The Mountain. The Sermon of The Mountain includes the chapters 5, 6 and 7 in the book of Matthews and also the chapter 6 of Luke.
The Famous Sermon of The Mountain is no more than the review of The Law of Moses by Jesus.
Jesus is teaching us how to fulfill the law and the prophets and to make our deeds pleasant to God.

He teaches to stay away from hypocrisy and to seek God's will over men's will.
He teaches to care about the things that really matter.
He teaches to trust God.
He teaches how serious is to obey God's commandments.
He teaches that The Father is a good God and love those who do his will as his own children.
He teaches that Saturday was created for men and not men for Saturday.

And the most amazing thing is that many of his words were taken from the old testament. Jesus had a very profound knowledge of the scriptures. Not in vane, may say that he is the author of the bible. When we understand this, we see no difference between Jesus teachings and the God of the old testament.

To listen to Jesus is like opening the eyes to a God that we probably never heard of, because if we do, we would change our ways. We will never be the same, we could not be hypocrites.

The bible says that the speech occurred in the Mountain Side. In Luke, says that he came down to the flat surface. Apparently, it is a contradiction. It' seems that he was not really on top of a mountain, but in an area called the mountain side with many little mountains.
